Web 2.0: what does it really mean?
Tim O’Reilly created the term Web 2.0 in 2004 as a title for a developer conference. Actually, there is not a clear-cut definition for Web 2.0 but it typically describes a form of user-to-user communication over the internet. For unlike Web 2.0 is not a technical innovation. With offers for social interaction such as Blogger.com, Del.ico.us, facebook, Flickr, GarageBand, Habbo-Hotel, MySpace, Linkdin, Spoke, Studylounge, YouTube, Wikipedia and Xing, the Web 2.0 merely documents the realisation that the internet was always a social forum for exchanging opinions and banal experiences and never just a digital market place.
In simple term, just it needs to understand that Web 2.0 is the current version, characterized by social networks (Orkut), online multigaming, audio, video and text sharing and communities built around them, wikis, blogs and so on so forth.Web 2.0: A super-medium of Business
Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the Internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform. It is a medium enriched with all the possible facilities of doing business such as buying/selling/auction (eBay) classifieds (Yello, CraigsList) job search engines / aggregators (Monster, Bixee). A clear picture of B2B, C2C, B2C, B2C2B markets is provided by Web 2.0.Writing Semantic Markup for Designers
A web designer avails a lot of facility when s/he uses 2.0. To understand what useful it can be it is one of the biggest steps in realizing Web 2.0 is the transition to semantic markup. The most popular markup languages, HTML and XHTML, are used primarily for display purposes, with tags to which designers can apply styles via CSS.
Designers can describe content, but only to the extent that it fits within the (X) HTML tag set. For example, designers can mark up content as headers, paragraphs, list items, citations, and definition lists using the heading, paragraph, list, citation and defination list tags, respectively. For some simple documents, these tags are adequate to describe content effectively. For most documents, however, there is no way to accurately describe the content with the (X) HTML tags we have available. In Web 2.0, this description is not only possible, but also critical.Providing Web Services not the Place
During the early years of the Web, before content had semantic meaning, sites were developed as a collection of “pages.” XML technologies enabled content to be shareable and transformable between different systems, and Web services provided hooks into the innards of sites. Instead of visual design being the interface to content, Web services have become programmatic interfaces to that same content. Anyone can build an interface to content on any domain if the developers there provide a Web services API.
An interesting interface built using eBay’s Web services is Andale, a site that tracks sales, prices to give auction sellers a better idea of what items are hot, and how much they have been selling for. Online Privacy
E-commerce is a wide array of interconnected business concept in 2.0 equipped with modern technologies and cultural phenomena. With the advent of E-commerce, many opportunities are now available to business: transcending geographic boundaries being open 24 hours and expanded profiling and marketing capabilities.
For deliverance to your customer, you need to know you customer, though the customer may rather keep that information private.
An immense amount of data is being collected not only from browsing on the internet, but from credit cards, mobile phones and frequent buyer programs such as “fly buys”. Retailers may exploit the personal information every time a user uses his or her credit card. In the beginning, the Internet allowed a certain level of anonymity. With the development of 2.0, this is no longer the case. People feel susceptible to privacy invasion.Be a driver, not a passenger
Interactive Web 2.0 applications such as online diaries (blogs, see box), online libraries (wikis) or virtual worlds have changed the way that consumers gather information. Instead of settling for the role of passive customer, the active Web2.0 user wants to contribute and discuss the latest news. Interactive platforms challenge existing business models and demand on appropriate reaction as information spreads through new channels.Be authentic: it is an advance way of communication
Web 2.0 heralds a new era of communication with a massive increase in information supply and news, opinion and services flow directly from user to user. Financial institutions can take advantage if they stay abreast of this development. However, any Web 2.0 presence of a financial institution must be authentic and consistent with the institution’s brand and corporate culture. To leverage the potential, the need for an immaculate reputation and the right type of brand is becoming ever more important. Conclusion:
From the concept of emerging technologies such as the Semantic Web transforming the way the Web is used (and leading to new possibilities in artificial intelligence) to the observation that increases in Internet connection speeds, modular web applications, and advances in computer graphics will play the key role in the evolution of the World Wide Web.
Now, even 2.0 is left behind the need and web-planet is looking forward for the new invention. Web 3.0 is the future, supposed to be characterised by natural language search (algorithms infirmed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) research); referred to as GGG (Global Giant Graph) by Tim Berners-Lee, who is father of www.
We have been realizing that Web 2.0 is well documented and talked about. The power of the Net reached a critical mass, with capabilities that can be done on a network level. We are also seeing richer devices over last four years and richer ways of interacting with the network, not only in hardware like game consoles and mobile devices, but also in the software layer. You do not have to be a computer scientist to create a program. We are seeing that manifest in Web 2.0 and 3.0 will be a great extension of that, a true communal medium…the distinction between professional, semi-professional and consumers will get blurred, creating a network effect of business and applications.

Because there are so many great affiliate programs available now, it has become quite a problem making your choice. Therefore we will discuss some tips about legitimate Internet businesses from home and starting successful businesses as marketing affiliates in this article.
You should look out for an affiliate program in an area that interests you and go for one that has products that are in demand and easy to market on the Internet. Some examples of affiliate products that are always in demand include things relating to golf, weight loss, pets, and making money on the Internet just to cite a few examples.
If you can find products to promote in any of those niches then you stand an excellent chance of running successful businesses. It is very important to remember that you should aim to promote products that people are willing to buy on the Internet and that they are looking for, in order to make money as marketing affiliates.
If you do not have an interest in one of the niche markets that I mentioned above it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to find a product that both matches your interest and can be sold online. It is not wise to promote products that you have no interest in.
In order to generate an income on the Internet with legitimate businesses, it is important that you find products that interest you since you’ll be “talking” about it daily.
If the product interests you, you will do much better selling it because you’ll be able to express your interest in various marketing campaigns including blogging, writing a pre sell page, article marketing, and so on.
You will also be better able to relate to your prospects and customers. Another thing marketing affiliates running successful businesses from home do, is to choose products that are currently hot in the marketplace. Sites like Clickbank.com and Google Trends will help you with this.com, and others where you will find ideas about the hottest items on the market today.
You can discover new potential markets by simply paying attention to what is popular and going on right now. Another point I want to stress is that when you do choose an affiliate program to join, don’t start marketing it until you have purchased and tested at least one of the products.
The most successful marketing affiliates are people who sell products that they own and use. It gives them a big advantage in experience and authenticity. Also, if the customer understands that you use the product you are recommending, he or she will be more likely to buy it on the strength of your recommendation alone. That is another reason why you want to choose affiliate programs for legitimate Internet businesses that have products that interest you.
The best affiliate programs are the ones that offer higher payouts and you should keep this in mind. Since this will be ones livelihood when running successful businesses from home as marketing affiliates, a person wants to be able to find an affiliate program that offers a chance to make a reasonable income from each sale that you make.
Once you become more successful you may even be able to contact the affiliate merchant and negotiate a higher rate for sales from legitimate Internet businesses.

Home business Internet marketing has become one of the favorite businesses of stay at home parents. The reason behind this popular choice is that online marketing does not cost as much as putting up your own store and keeping inventories. If you are one of those who are contemplating of putting up your own home business Internet marketing and earning a living out of it, it might be good to consider affiliate marketing for more details you can login to www.tube-traffic.com. Most affiliate marketing programs does not require you to have start up capital to sell their products. All you need to have is a website where you can put the logo of the merchants and provide a link to their site. Like all other business be it home business internet marketing or the traditional brick and mortar form of business, there are many challenges you need to contend with in order to succeed and make good money.

The first thing that you will need to contend with when you opt to incorporate affiliate marketing in your home business is that some merchant sites are rather difficult to navigate. Customers are often turn off from buying their products because it is difficult to browse through. Often times, merchant sites, which are difficult to navigate, also have complicated payment system that people who do not have the patience to deal with complications may just leave the site without buying at all. You as an online marketer often don’t have any say on the merchant’s website. The best thing you can do is screen out merchant websites properly before displaying their logo on your own website www.sell-using-the-web.com. It would be best for you to try and navigate your merchant’s website to gauge whether or not a buyer would easily find what he or she needs. Only provide links for those merchant websites that are user friendly if you hope to sell something and earn a commission.

Another thing that you will need to focus on when you are engaged in home business Internet marketing is that most merchant sites are not very attractive to online shoppers. You will need to market their sites aggressively in your website by providing information to buyers. When you sell the products of your merchant, it would be best to use text link instead of banners. Moreover, relationship marketing is a good tool, which you must use to earn good money in home base internet marketing. The cardinal rule in relationship marketing is that you build a good relationship with your clients and gain their trust. Where a client trusts your judgments, they will be more open to buying the products you are endorsing. Building trust could take a long time but the returns are good ones if you have that kind of relationship with your clients.

Glossary of Affiliate Marketing Terms. Understanding Affiliate Programs. Affiliate Marketing is probably the least complicated way to get into an Internet business or home business. There are tens of hundreds of affiliate programs advertised on the Internet and some of the concepts and terms can be confusing for a person just starting out. Essentially, an affiliate sells other people’s products for a commission. Sales are chalked up through planned affiliate marketing strategies. Creditable merchants include marketing tools that an affiliate can access from his or her control panel or back office. These affiliate marketing tools include text links, banners, graphics, email campaigns and other variations, and affiliates basically need to just cut and paste. This arrangement suits both the affiliate (salesperson) and the merchant (producer) very well indeed. The merchant has a large group of salespersons all over the network promoting his or her products and services (for which she pays a generous commission), and the affiliate doesn’t have to bother with overheads, carrying stock, inventory management, shipping, insurance and other administrative demands. The affiliate program is one of the most popular and ubiquitous methods chosen by work-from-home and internet business enthusiasts. However not all affiliate programs are created equal, and it is wise to understand their terms and conditions, payment methods, and to do due diligence on the merchant’s background, reliability, creditability and level of support before getting involved. While some affiliate programs require an initial joining fee, most are free affiliate programs. Here’s A Glossary of Affiliate Marketing/Affiliate Program Terms To Help You Zero In On What’s What. *Affiliates (also termed as an Associates or Publishers) – Webmasters (website owners) who includes links on their web site that point to a merchant’s products or services. The affiliate gets commissions for all the transactions/sales that are closed through their affiliate link. *Affiliate Program (also known as an Partner or Associate Program) This is where merchants / companies agree to web site owners (affiliates, Partners or Associates) joining their program to promote their products or services. *Affiliate Directory This is a Site / Company that catalogues a large number of different types of affiliate programs for which you can sign up as an affiliate. *Affiliate Network A site where merchants can list their affiliate program/s. Affiliates can then join and promote the merchants’ products and services by using text links, banners, etc. The advantage of joining through a network is that all the affiliate programs you join can be tracked from one website. Payments are received from the network rather than from individual merchants. Affiliates will receive commissions in one payment, usually monthly, based on the total sales of all the programs that are promoted. *Banner Programs / advertisements Banners are graphical advertisements, around 480 pixels wide by 60 to 70 pixels tall. By including these banners on your website, you usually get paid per 1000 impressions, per sale, or per click-through. *Direct Referrals These are people that you directly introduce to an affiliate program. *Indirect Referrals These are referred to an affiliate program by your direct referrals. *Merchants A merchant is a company that sells products or services. As an affiliate, you partner with these merchants and help them sell their products online. You then earn commissions by pay per lead or pay per sale, depending on the terms. *Net 60, Net 30, etc This refers to payment terms. In net 60, you get your commission 60 days after the active month, and 30 days after for net 30. *Pay Per Click (also known as PPC) Merchants pay affiliates for each click on a text link or banner that takes the visitor to the merchant’s website. *PopUps/Unders & Exits These advertisements or websites normally popup the same time as the site, but can be timed to display later. They usually display in a new browser window or tab. A Pop-Under Ad will display behind the site so no one notices that it is there until they leave. Exit ads pop up only after a visitor leaves the site. *Pay Per Lead / Action Affiliates receive a commission for each referred visitor completes the merchant’s desired action. *Pay Per Impression (cpm) Affiliates place either a banner or text link on their site that takes visitors to the merchants site. Every time the banner or text link gets viewed the affiliate gets paid. Payment is normally based on per 1000 impressions/page views. These commissions are earned without your visitors having to purchase from the merchant’s site. *Pay Per Click Search Engine (PPC Search Engine, PPCSE, Pay Per Bid) These are search engines that allow you to earn on a pay per click basis. If a visitor clicks on a link that was referred by you, you’ll earn a percentage of the bided amount. A classis example is google adsense, but there are others as well. *Pay Per Sale You earn a commission when you refer a visitor to a merchant’s site and they buy a product or service from that merchant. The commission is usually a percentage of the selling price of that product or service. *Referrals These are visitors you direct to an affiliate program offered by a merchant. Payments vary between programs so you need to check out the merchant’s terms and conditions *Raw Visitors A Raw visitor is numbered every time a page is viewed. This is different from unique visitors, where only the first view by that visitor is counted. *Search Box A Search Box is especially used in Search Engine Affiliate Programs. It’s another way for affiliates to link to a merchant’s site. It is coded specially so if a visitor wants to search for a product or service on a merchant’s site that you have affiliated with, then they can search for that product by using the merchant’s search box directly from your site. You earn commissions for any transactions that result. *Text Links Text links are links that describes a merchant’s product, service or their site. When you click the link you will be directed to the merchants site. Text linking is becoming more favored as the link text can be blended with the other content within your site, and your visitors won’t know if it is a link to a different site or a link to another page that is part of your site. *Unique Visitors A Unique visitor is counted every time a site is viewed within a 24-hour period. If you view a site at 11 AM. and again at 3.30 PM. you will count as one. If you visit the site at 4pm the next day then it would be logged as two visitors. *2 Tier These are affiliate programs that pays you a commission at least two-levels deep. So, if the person you referred to a merchants site becomes an affiliate and he / she then refers someone else and they also become an affiliate then you’ll be paid not only for your direct sales but also for those generated by your direct referral plus what your indirect referral closes up to two levels deep. Now that you have a better understanding of the meaning of affiliate marketing terms, the next step would be to choose wisely before signing up. A 90% commission offer in and affiliate program means nothing if the merchant doesn’t pay, has poor tracking methods and doesn’t respond to your emails. And identifying a good affiliate program takes time if you want to do it yourself. A quicker and safer method is to sign up for programs that have already been tested and evaluated by internet marketers. Copyright: Dan Jeremiah.

Why you want a Web business? The explanations might be you need to earn more cash, have more sparetime, have more control over your life, telecommute, spend a touch more time with family, or get out of rat race. Whatever reason you have, all the goals debated above can be done by building your own business. But you’ve got to be in a position to face all the challenges ahead. ”Yes, I should grow a business but how do I start?” you ask.

If you are actually interested by building up a business, there are three main strategies you can start one. Building your own web business is the most typical way of building a business. You’ve got a business idea and you have printed who your target audience is. You will either setup your business by yourself or with partners. If you select this system, everything is built from nothing. From setting up the company to making an attempt to find providers, from hiring folks to handling accounts. I would say this is the toughest way of making a company. But it is the best to gain knowledge in beginning a business. Once successful, you are feeling highly satisfied because your business is your own creation.

The other way of growing your business is to buy an existing business. Some companies are for sale and you will find them in the paper, trade mags, or the Net. The advantage of purchasing an existing business is you skip the startup part of the business. When you purchase over the business, the business is running. Things you have to not overlook if you buy an existing business include the reason why existing owner is selling the business and to make sure the business you’re going to buy is in good economic condition. To reach this, you can hire a business specialist to conduct a due diligence on the business. This way can prevent you from buying a business with issues swept under the carpet.

An alternate way is to get a franchise business from franchisor. A nice example of franchised business is McDonald’s. When you purchase a franchise business, you are purchasing into a company that is proven to be working and earning money. A good franchise business will typically give you training on the way to effectively run the business. You do not want to worry about the setting up of your outlet or office, advertising and promotions, hardware and other stuff you need to run the business. Everything is made public manifestly by your franchisor in their operating systems. A franchised business is very beneficial for folk who don’t wish to take the danger of building business from nothing. But the investment cost for a franchised business is high.

When you first start on Twitter, using Twitter for business to business may not seem as obvious as using Twitter for business to consumer or follower to follower.

Let’s look at this more closely:

Imagine you are a middle-level manager at a company that creates new software programs. And you’ve been trying to convince Corporation X that your new software would be an excellent add-on to the software being bundled in these personal computers.

To date you have gotten nowhere with your attempts to reach the appropriate person at Corporation X through the traditional methods of email and phone calls. So you decide to do a social media search for her.

You find her on LinkedIn, but you don’t have a direct connection to her and aren’t sure that anyone you can ask on LinkedIn for a referral will actually refer you.

You find her on Facebook, but her profile has strong privacy controls. You could message her through Facebook, but she might ignore your Facebook message as she has ignored your emails.

Then you find her on Twitter. Voila! On Twitter you can follow her without asking her permission. You can watch her tweets for your opportunity to engage in Twitter conversation with her.

Warning: Now I don’t mean that you immediately engage in a sales pitch to her. I mean that you engage in conversation on a topic of interest to her – perhaps something that she’s shared with her followers. (Remember, you will be able to go to her profile and see her tweets.)

Perhaps she’ll follow you back. Perhaps not. But if you start a tweet with @herusername, she should see it in her @ box. And if your tweet is of value on a topic of interest to her, you have a good chance she’ll reply.

Now you do NOT stalk her and you do engage with others on Twitter so as not to appear single-focused. But every couple of days you could take the opportunity to engage with her.

With luck she’ll follow you back and perhaps see your occasional tweet about your new software. Or after several exchanges of replies, you can tweet her info about your new software (again without pitching her) or include a link with information on the software.

If you use the strategy effectively, there should come a point where you can talk to her off Twitter about your software perhaps being a good fit with her company’s computers. By now she should be comfortable enough with you to give you a few minutes. The rest is up to you.

Does this seem like a great deal of work? In truth it is only a few minutes every day. And if this account materialized, you could have a very profitable return for the work of a few minutes a day.

In conclusion, if your company has a social media networking plan, employees could be assigned specific marketing targets with whom to engage on Twitter. And by coordinating your company’s efforts, you should be able to tweet about your great new software and provide helpful information without resorting to heavy-handed sales pitches.

Having a home based business in Affiliate Marketing is an appealing field for many Internet marketers. It seems simple enough; you put up a link on your website, and you get passive income. You make money without even thinking about it. This kind of thinking will never get you anywhere.

Some simple rules to observe when becoming an affiliate:

• Know the product you’re promoting. This cannot be stressed enough. For one thing, if you promote a junk product, that reflects on your reputation. For another, you can bet that people following your link will have questions for you. While you COULD leave it to the product’s support department, being able to give answers yourself will help your reputation. It may even generate some word of mouth promotion by your customer.

• Don’t put too many affiliate links on one page. Avoid creating a page or a Web 2.0 account that is just a collection of affiliate links. No one will want to sort through them just to find out what a product is. Especially if you’re affiliating with several different niches.

• Give adequate descriptions and above all SELL the product you’re linking to. Many successful affiliates will have one page dedicated to one link, and generate a sales page around it. This is a good plan, especially if you can find a cheap domain server.

• Do not affiliate with home based businesses that aren’t relevant to the page you have your link on. This can make the normal visitors uneasy and decrease the traffic to that page. This would be shooting yourself in the foot.

• Something else that’s shooting yourself in the foot: Putting up an affiliate link for your competition! You might think this is a no-brainer, but you have to be careful to investigate whom you’re setting up a link for. It’s not always obvious who it is.

These five tips will keep you out of most of the trouble you could get into with affiliate marketing.

Before starting up any kind of business, one must set up a plan to earn more than we spend and avoid mistakes along the way. Here are a few internet marketing mistakes that you should watch out for and avoid: 1. Making viewers wait. Don’t regret paying more for a hostile package that could bring you to people fast. If your website is constantly down, your server is slow, your graphics take two minutes load, you can say goodbye to your potential customers. 2. Technical arrogance. Never assume that everyone has the latest version of a program to view your site. Always have plain HTML and text versions ready for these users who do not have Macromedia’s flash installed. Also, take notes from successful sites. Outsource to a pro for SEO writing, web design, and programming to invest in a good template for your site if you’re not that confident on your technical prowess. 3. Not marketing offline. Complement online traffic to your site by marketing offline as well, because no one is online all the time. 4. Not remaining timely. If you want to attract customers, you need to be updated on recent and upcoming events that are relevant to your site. If you’ve got marketing materials on your site about Memorial Day special and it’s June 15th, you’re losing customers. 5. Poor linkages. Focus on building long-term passive traffic rather than bulk traffic packages or trying traffic gimmicks. However, be very careful with whom you align yourself. Some companies operate co-registration and affiliate programs that violate the CAN-SPAM act and other rules and regulations. Check out any company that offers you anything , especially those who offer you anything that’s quick and easy. 6. Giving users the third degree. Signing up for newsletters or making purchases should be easy for your customers. Avoid making them go through a number of links or asking too many questions before complete tasks. You loose 10-15 percent of your potential customers for each question you ask them. 7. Not using viral marketing. Let your customers create ‘buzzwords’ for you through simple ‘forward to a friend’ links or ‘two for one offers’ or offline marketing on t-shirts and other accessories that your customers can wear. Viral marketing or ‘word of mouth’ (in offline marketing lingo) could create an exponential growth of your site’s visibility by spreading from customer to customer and then business to business. 8. Resorting to cheap gimmicks. Some marketers resort to goofy and even phony campaigns just to gain brand exposure. These could be entertaining and even viral but sometimes those could backfire because they are irrelevant to the customers and sometimes even to your product or service. Provide something that convert to sales and not just to generate shock or surprise. Connect with your buyers in a positive way by providing products and services that are worth talking about. Associate your site with quality rather than gimmicks and you’ll have customers coming back. 9. Not collecting email addresses. This is not the same as spamming email addresses because unlike spamming, you ask for your customer’s permission to send them your newsletters and other updates to your site. Remember that spamming could cost you because fines could be very heavy when you are found to be in violation of CAN-SPAM laws. By collection email addresses, you maintain your target audience and your potential market. 10. Mistaking Traffic for Results. Only because a lot of people seem to be clicking on your ad doesn’t mean that they are buying. Remember that some sites actually buy traffic just to maintain top-line business. But if these people aren’t buying, how do you expect to even earn off it? Continuously paying for this traffic can be expensive. On the other hand, just because you have enough traffic, it does not also mean that your income is guaranteed for the next months to come. What you should really focus on is, how much of this traffic actually converts to sales? Everyday is a challenge to offer something that your client really needs, to persuade them that they need what you’re offering and that you are offering the best of what they need. Online customers actually know what they want, so it is up to your to tell them that what they want is what you are offering.
